How do I find Greenan Maze? Where is it located?

Greenan Maze is located at Ballinanty, Greenan, Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow. The Eircode is A67 D789, making it easy to find via Google Maps. It’s approximately 10 minutes from Rathdrum and 15 minutes from Glendalough, easily accessible from Dublin via Exit 16 on the N11 motorway and the R752.

Detailed driving directions from Dublin: Take exit 16 off the N11 southbound for Rathnew/Wicklow, then take the right turn off the second roundabout signposted Rathdrum R752. When approaching Rathdrum, continue past the garage on your right up a hill until you reach the crossroads, turn right into the village and take the next left turn signposted Greenan 6km

Greenan Maze is open 10am – 6pm, with last admission at 5pm. Opening days vary by month, but generally we’re open for the Easter school holidays, weekends only from April to June and open 7 days a week in July and August. We are closed from September to March.

You can get to Greenan Maze by taking Bus Éireann route 133 to Wicklow, where you catch the 183 to Rathdrum. If traveling by the Dublin-Rosslare train, get off at Rathdrum station.From Rathdrum, the easiest way to reach the farm is by local taxi with phone numbers: 087 817 6630, 087 956 1111, 087 260 5346.

You can book online in advance, but it’s not essential as we can also take payment at the entrance when you arrive.

Family tickets cost €34 for two adults and two children, or one adult and three children. Additional children can be added for €7 per child. Children under two go free. We also offer season tickets for families who want to visit multiple times throughout the spring and summer.

Make sure to wear good footwear for a farm; wellies, boots, walking shoes, runners or trainers are great. High heels aren’t! Prepare for changeable weather so bring a rain jacket and wear some layers. It’s good to have both an umbrella and sunscreen with you, to cover all angles.

Dogs are welcome. Make sure they are on a lead at all time and that you clean up after them. They are allowed on site, excluding inside buildings and in the mazes. Guide dogs are welcome throughout the site.

Each day, visitors can join one of our tour guides to feed the animals, if the weather permits. Meet at the coffee shop at 2:30 p.m. to join in. Do not enter any of the paddocks, fields or pens or try to feed animals if you are not with a guide. The animals have special diets and can only be fed in the presence of a guide.

The coffee shop is open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for coffees, cookies, soft drinks and snacks. We also serve hot food like toasties and paninis between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Yes. We’ve lots of covered tables, so they’re perfect spot for your picnic, no matter what the weather.

Barbecues are not allowed on site, but picnics are welcome and we also have hot food at the coffee shop. For certain special events, barbecues are permitted, but only by prior arrangement with us.

We reserve the right to refuse admission or close the farm when deemed necessary or if there are serious weather warnings from Met Eireann www.met.ie/warnings 

Yes, your family can stay at the farm! Greenan Maze offers three Shepherds Huts for wild glamping accommodation. The River Shepherd’s Hut sleeps 2 adults and 2 children (€140 per night, April-September, 2 night minimum). The Hill Shepherd’s Hut sleeps 2 adults and 2 children (€120 per night, 2 night minimum). Each hut has its own fenced garden area with barbecue and campfire facilities.

We host primary school tours with experienced tour guides, offering educational outings that include heritage, local history, nature and environmental activities. We only host two groups per day to ensure quality, and tours can last from 2½ to 4 hours depending on your requirements.

It’s recommended to plan to spend 2 to 3 hours at Greenan Maze. However, many families spend the whole day exploring the mazes, museums, nature walks, feeding animals, and enjoying the playground and picnic areas.

Both mazes are wheelchair accessible as are large parts of the farm and walks. We have accessible toilet facilities on-site and reserved parking for badge holders. Staff are available to advise visitors on the best areas for wheelchair users and buggies, as some areas of the natural landscape are more accessible than others.
